“Now that lunch is on the table,  I think I’ll bake chocolate chip cookies for my children today,” said Mother Mouse.

Terry's Tips

Ask children what they know about baking cookies. This helps them talk about their background knowledge and helps them engage with the story. When children talk about their background knowledge it helps them understand  the story.

Extension Activity: Bake some cookies! While baking the cookies, discuss the story and make some connections between the story and what you are doing.  This will help children understand why Mother Mouse is looking for the chocolate chips.
