Children learn vocabulary words by making connections. Now that we know a monkey has fur, talk to your child about how feathers are similar to and different from fur .

Extension Activity: The next time you and your child are outside, look at different birds. Talk about the different colors and sizes of feathers on the birds. Later on, you can help children draw pictures of birds they saw.
