Mallet instruments

Mallet instruments have many bars of metal or wood that are struck with a mallet. They are laid out like a piano with one bar for each note.

Mallet instruments include the xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, and glockenspiel.

The vibraphone actually has small fins that spin below each bar. These make the vibraphone sound like it is vibrating.
