Turtle's Tremendous Trip

One sweltering morning in July, Turtle was pushing through the kelp on his daily swim to his best friend, Starfish's, house. The water was so warm and kelp was so thick that he had to stop and rest for a few minutes to cool down.

I infer that "sweltering" means very hot. I infer this because this word was used to describe a day in July and I know that the days are usually very hot in July. It also says that Turtle had to stop and rest and that reminded me of this summer when I was playing basketball outside and I had to stop and rest a lot because it was so hot. I also infer that kelp is like seaweed. I know this because turtle is swimming through something that is thick and I remember when I went to the aquarium to see the sea turtles they were swimming in a tank with thick seaweed. The picture on the page also helped me to make my inference.
