Tommy Dorsey had his own big band as seen on the previous brass quintet or larger ensembles like symphony orchestras . Sometimes Tommy Dorsey combined different types of groups to make a new sound, for example sometimes he included more string instruments in his band.

Can you compare and contrast the two different sound clips? Which one do you like more and why?

Lets look to the paragraph for information about the differences and then listen to the clips again. So we know they're two different types of groups, what is different about them?

I enjoy both sound clips but I much prefer the up-beat tempo of the first clip. The first clip sounds more like what I associate jazz with although I like the fullness of the second sound clip.
