Try starting at the bottom of the cladogram and traveling upwards towards humans and bats. What traits evolved before the paths for humans and bats split?

Bats and humans are both vertebrates, tetrapods, amniotes, and mammals. This means that they have a backbone, four limbs, give live birth, and nurse their young. (Because they are mammals, they no longer lay water-tight eggs, although their ancestors once did.)
