Unit 4: Latin America

Your trip now takes you south of the United States to the countries that make up Latin America. In this unit, you will learn about the geography of Latin America. You will also read about the early peoples who built great cities in Latin America. As your knowlege about Latin America grows, think about how the history of Latin America is similar to, and different from, the history of Canada.

Latin America is made up of different countries. The United States is a country and so is Canada that you are familiar with. Both of those countries are on the continent of North America. Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Nicaragua, Costa Rico, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Suriname, Guyana, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, and Domican Republic are all countries in Latin America. There are also some smaller countries that are very small. Do you notice a difference between Latin America and Canada already?
