7th Grade Poetry Lesson

Activity 1

This activity will introduce students to some of major poetic devices and connect their existing and familiar knowledge with the new concept.

Studnets will watch the following YouTube videos.
Studnets will write down the poetic devices (also called figurative language) and a short description of each device.

Student will be given a Word handout with a table that has the names of poetic devices and space for their description and examples. Check the progress of each student (formative assessment). Students may search YouTube for more applicable video clips if they wish to locate more figurative language.
