Sandy beaches like this are a favorite destination spot for bathers, and for many people, the sandier the beach, the better. However, there are many areas of our coasts that have little to no sand, but instead have various rocks and pebbles of all shapes and sizes.

Limestone is a type of rock, made up of calcium carbonate precipitate.

"Precipitate" means that dissolved particles "fall out" of the water so that they are no longer dissolved (like salt in salt water) and become solid. Try this by pouring a half teaspoon of salt into a glass of water and stir. What has happened to the salt?
