Let us dedicate ourselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago: to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world.

Let us dedicate ourselves to that, and say a prayer for our country and for our people. Thank you very much.

Even though it has been many years since Robert's speech was given, and many more since the time the Greeks wrote the statement Robert mentions, we all still have to fight against mean and selfish feelings we have as people. The good news is that we are getting better as time goes on, even though it may not seem that way sometimes. Rates of violence have been going down for years now, which is good news for all of us!
