Glossary

Something that is passed around for people to sign in support of an idea. Usually, a petition is used when you want to change the way things are and you need to show that others support you. 

For example,

Sarah wanted to make sure that the animals at the zoo were being treated fairly so she had all of the guests sign a petition to send to the owner.  If everyone signed it the owner would have to pay attention.
