An eruption is what happens when magma is ejected from a volcano and shot into the air. The purpose of an eruption is to release the built up pressure that is caused by the gas and heat from the mantle.

Igneous rock is one of three different kinds of rocks on Earth that is formed when lava cools.

Magma is hot, pasty rock that moves within the mantle. Magma is what is sent from the magma chamber to the Earth's surface through the central vent. When magma leaves the Earth's surface and is sent into the air, it turns into lava.

The mantle of a volcano is located between the thick core of the Earth and the Earth's thin crust. It is made up of many different kinds of rocks. The mantle is the area that forms magma.

A volcano is a mountain or hill that is shaped like a cone. Volcanoes have bowl-shaped centers with openings where material that forms deep down can exit through.
