Glossary

Activated is the past tense form of the word activate.  To activate something is to turn it on or get it started.

The action of waiting for or expecting something to happen.

Automatically means that it does it without us having to remember to do it.

Cognitive is from the word cognition which means the mental action or process of learning from and thinking about what happens around us.

Endanger our survival means to do something to hurt us or kill us

A lobe is a rounded part of an organ.  The brain has 4 lobes.

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.   Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a large magnet and radio waves to look at organs and structures inside your body

Neuroscientists study the brain and how this affects us physically and emotionally.
