In this case the work amplify means to increase in sound, or make louder.

A bandleader is ther person who is in charge of a band.  They sometimes play in the band also, or sometimes they are the conductor or composer of the group of musicians.

Instruments are divided into groups called families depending on certain characteristics.  The Brass Family also included trumpet, french horn, bugle, trombone, bass trombone, and tuba.

A brass quintet is a type of musical group.  It has 5 members, traditionally it includes 2 trumpets, a trombone, a french horn, and a tuba.

A music composer creates and then writes down the music so that the musicians know what to play.

The rhythm section in a big band is a group of instruments in a big band that work together to keep a steady beat.  All the other instruments listen to the rhythm section.  The rhythm section traditionally includes piano, guitar, bass, and drum set.
