- 504 TEAM

A group of people convened by the school who have knowledge of both the student, the disability, and the evaluation process and data.
- age of majority

This means the age when the student can legally make his or her own decisions. In Massachusetts, this age is 18.

This is the deliberate infliction of physical pain on a student as a consequence.
- due process hearing

This is the legal term for what happens when a school and the parent / guardian do not agree on accomodations or decisions for a student with disabilties. Either side can intiate a due process hearing and it involves stating both sides of the case before an impartial hearing officer.

This refers to where a student does his or her learning, whether it be in specific classrooms or in a specific school.

This is the process that a student goes through (usually a series of tests and interviews) to determine whether or not the student qualifies for special education services.
