One morning, a little rabbit sat on a bank .  He turned his ears towards the sound of a pony.  A carriage  was coming down the road.  Mr. and Mrs. McGregor were driving the carriage.  Mrs. McGregor was dressed very nicely.

As soon as the carriage drove by, Benjamin Bunny ran into the woods to go see his family.

His aunt and cousins lived behind Mr. McGregor's garden.

Mrs. Rabbit, Benjamin's aunt, made things from extra rabbit fur and sold them to make money.

Benjamin went to the back of his aunt's house and ran into his cousin, Peter.  Peter was alone, wearing a red handkerchief .  Benjamin asked "Who has your clothes, Peter?"

Peter said he dropped them in Mr. McGregor's garden because Mr. McGregor was chasing him.

Benjamin said that they could get Peter's clothes back.

Benjamin and Peter decided to get Peter's clothes because the McGregor's were not at home today.

They jumped over the wall that was around the garden.

Peter's clothes were put on the scarecrow  in the garden, along with Mr. McGregor's hat.  They took back Peter's clothes.

Benjamin wanted to gather food from the garden, but Peter kept hearing noises.

Suddenly, Peter saw something.  It was a cat!

The bunnies hid from the cat underneath a basket.

The cat got up and came over to the basket.  Then...

The cat sat on top of the basket and stayed there for five hours.

That was an extremely long time.

Then, there was the sound of small footsteps.

Old Mr. Benjamin Bunny, who was Benjamin's father, jumped on top of the cat and locked it inside a greenhouse .

He had been looking for Benjamin all day, and was very mad.

The bunnies went home.

When Mr. McGregor came home later that day, he was confused.

There were small footprints and the cat was locked in the greenhouse.

Mrs. Rabbit was very happy to see Peter rabbit and his little coat come home.
