Volcanoes

Volcanoes are openings in the Earth's crust  where hot liquid erupts. Volcanoes begin when magma  is formed in the mantle .

Magma collegs in magma chambers and moves up a tunnel or central vent. Sometimes the magma escapes through side tunnels. Most magma erupts through a bowl-shaped crater  at the top of the volcano.

An eruption is like opening a can of shaken soda. There is a lot of material that comes from a volcano including ash and lava. As lava cools it becomes igneous  rock, which is new crust!
