What Are Volcanoes?

Volcanoes  start within the mantle where magma forms. Magma  is a hot rock that moves within the volcanoes mantle. Magma  collects in the large pockets called the magma chambers. When it leaves the chamber, it moves up a tunnel and erupts.

The material that comes from a volcano is lava , a hot molten rock. When the lava  gets higher, it creates a moutain or an island.

Most of the magma explodes out of a bowl-shaped crater at the top, thus forming the volcano . When it doesn't erupt from the top, it escapes from the side vents.
