Washington, D.C. is located in the Northeast part of the United States.  It is surrounded by Maryland and Virginia.  The Potomac River flows through and around Washington, D.C.

People who live in Washington, D.C. are called Washingtonians.  Washington, D.C. is very busy.  There is a lot of traffic because of the crowds.  

The President  of the United States lives in Washington, D.C.  There are also many attractions, like the White House , the Washington Monument , the Lincoln Memorial , the Capitol , the Smithsonian Museum , and more. 

Some of the other things that can be found in Washington, D.C are the Library of Congress , the National Zoo, Georgetown University, and the National Arboretum .
