CAST UDL Book Builder

 

CAST UDL Book Builder is a free, easy to use, web 2.0 tool which allows users to create their own eBooks online and share it with others. This tool allows users to be creative, enjoy readings of other authors, and find learning resources. 

CAST is a great tool to use in education because there are many students who may have difficulties with reading, therefore, this tool helps students read along with audio clips. It also allows students to choose their topic of interests to read. This tool encourages students to create their own fun stories, which they can share with their peers.

The UDL Book Builder not only improves reading skills, but also creativity and writing skills. This tool is a great way to reduce reading and writing barriers, which may take place in a classroom due to methods of reading, and material provided.

There is no minimun age requirement for this Web 2.0 tool.  

 

 

 

 

 

 


Google Docs

 

Google Docs is a free Web 2.0 tool, online word processor which allows users to upload, create, or edit documents shared with peers.

 Google Docs is a great tool that can be used in education because it allows students to complete group assignments online as a team without meeting in person. Students can access, add, or edit google documents at anytime on their computers. Its quick, and saves a lot of time for students. 

Many students have availability barriers outside of school, such as work, and personal priorities. This may cause frustration for students because their availability is different than the other group members and they are unable to meet as often as needed. Google Docs solves this problem for all students. They can all contribute to the group assignments at their own time.  

 Google Docs is licensed for users 13 years of age or older. There are provisions granted for schools to generate Google Docs within Google Apps Education Addition. Requires parental consent. (Must accept Google Apps Education Addition Agreement). 

 

 



Animoto

 

Animoto is a Web 2.0 tool which allows users to create videos using text, images, and music.

 Animoto would be a great tool to use in education because there are many students who are auditorial learners, who enjoy visuals and performances. 

 There are many students who have difficulties reading and writing, Animoto reduces these barriers. It is amazing for students who would rather perform or create videos to show what they have learned. 

 Animoto is licensed for users 13 years of age or older. There are provisions granted for schools to generate accounts under the teachers account for students under the age of 13. Supervision is required at all times for students under the age of 13.
