Introduction:

"Good morning class, today will be discussing the Civil Rights Movement!" said Ms. Scanlon

"Good morning," her third period Civics class mumbled.

"Can anyone tell me something they know about the Civil Rights Movement?"

Brandon called out, "Miss...Miss...I know what happened during the Civil Rights Movement!"

Ms. Scanlon surveyed the class and noticed Brianna sitting quietly, waiting to be called on.

Ms. Scalon asked Brianna to share her thoughts.

Meanwhile Jordon sat in the back of the class wondering why Ms. Scanlon ignored Brandon.

I want to share my ideas with the class.

I am just as smart as everyone else in the class.

I have an interesting perspective on life, we all do.

I will raise my hand in class, I want Ms. Scalon to call on me in class.

I will wait until I am called on, and then I will share my thoughts with the class.

I will speak clearly and calmly. There is no reason to be afraid to share my ideas in class.

I will think out my thought before I speak so I am prepared and will have no reason to be nervous.

I will listen to my classmates' ideas, because I want to treat everyone with respect.

I want my classmates to listen to my ideas, so I will treat them with the same respect.
