EDU 210 WEB 2.0 TOOLS!!!

ATLAPEDIA - http://www.atlapedia.com/

Atlapedia is essentially an online, very easily accessible atlas.  It contains political maps, full color physical maps and key facts as well as statistics about countries around the world. This could be easily used in a Social Studies class for middle school or highschool for the more detailed information as well as elementary with the ability to show students the colour coded countries.

There are three resources; Countries A-Z, World Map, and Class resources.  All of which provide a variety of information like climate, people, language, history, economy, homework resources and important facts and figures.

The homework aspect could be very useful in class because students could potentially take work home with them since the site is accessible from anywhere with internet.

There does not seem to be any use restrictions.

BIOLAB - http://www.biolabsoftware.com/

Biolab is a Web 2.0 tool which gives students and teacher access to online disections. This can be very useful for low budget school, children who would not be able to handle a real disection (Physically or emotionally), or just to create a greater understanding for the students. This site offers a variety of animals to disect, perfect for varying levels of education, they offer everything from flies and frogs to Cats and pigs.

It provides an in depth study of the anatomy and physiology for the older highschool grades with comparisons between human and cat for example.

This site is very resources as it offers suplemental teaching materials like crossword puzzles, worksheets for students and tests and quizzes.

There seems to be no restrictions on use.

HEADMAGNET - http://headmagnet.com/

Headmagnet is an online resource to help students with studying, memorization, and understanding class information.
It helps students memorize topics quickly and efficiently with study lists and provides tracking informations to follow what youve learned.
It also gives you the ability to share your study lists with others.
This is a great Web 2.0 tool for junior and senior high students. To help them study and review for exams and quizzes.
It offers some already made study lists for a variety of subjects from Social Studies to Languages.
I would use this as a study aid for my students, or a review guide that they can access in class or after school hours.

The usage restriction is that you must be 13+ in order to use the site.

THE END!
