The Secret in the Plant!

Ginger

By: Samah Irshid

There was a young boy who lived in a little blue house with his grandma in the islands. The house was filed with delicious food and her well known homemade chocolate chip cookies. Yasseen adored his grandma.

Over the years he could tell that things have been different with grandma. She would forget the pot on the stove, forget to brush her teeth, and even forget to make her famous cookies.

Each day Papa and Mama would care for Grandma Rema. I could tell something was not right. Grandma was very sad looking, and ill. Over the next few days, I found out grandma has been suffering from memory loss. Mama then arranged to find a local doctor to see what was wrong with grandma.

The doctor said that grandma was suffering with Alzheimer's, a disease that forces you to slowly forget everything you ever cared about. She also suffered from severe headaches, high cholesterol, and blurred vision. The doctor recommended one specific solution that will help grandma, known as the secret plant called Ginger. The plant was only found in the top of the mountains hidden underneath the ground.

Yasseen was forced to travel a long and dangerous journey to find this secret plant

He stumbled upon a local and asked him if he knew were the secret plant was located, on top of the mountains. The local replied, “It is at the very peak of the mountain underneath the blue colored tree.”

He traveled for days until he stumbled upon a hog on the mountain, who agreed to use his nose to sniff out the ginger underneath the ground. The hog helped him find the ginger plant a few days later, underneath the blue tree at the very top of the mountain.

He pulled out the root, and located a thick, beige, underground stem. It turned out to be the Ginger root!

He traveled back to his home town in

Dominca, to talk to the doctor to make

sure it was the right plant!

Yasseen was very curious to know why this plant held so many secrets and why it was given the name of the secret plant, by the locals.

The doctor was so excited that the plant was finally in front of him and explained all of the  benefits and powers of this plant!
