Volcanoes form deep inside the mantle of the Earth where magma forms. As magma gets closer to the surface of the Earth, it can gush out of weak spots in the crust of the earth. Magma is heated rock that moves through the Earth's mantle. It has a liquid texture and is very hot.

A volcano is an opening in the earth. It has a big hole where the hot material from inside the Earth comes out of. An eruption is like opening a can of soda that you shook.

Lava comes out of volcanoes. Lava is the material that erupts from a volcano that contains hot rock. When it cools and hardens, it becomes igneous rock. It is used as brand new crust for the earth!
