Volcanoes

A Pleasant Suprise!

Lily and Roxy had went on vacation to the island of Hualalai in Hawaii.  While walking up what Lily thought was a hill, she discovered a hole at the top of it. Confused as to what it was, the girls asked a park ranger nearby to further explain it to them.

"This is an inactive  volcano" said the park ranger named Joe.  He then explained that although there was a possiblity it could erupt  , how it has not had an eruption   in over 10,000 years.

Joe continued to say "Volcanoes begin deep within the mantle where magma  forms. A volcano is the opening out of which hot material erupts  ." Roxy then asked, "What types of materials?". The park ranger responded with "Ash, cinders, and lava  ."

Lily then thanked Joe for helping them expand on their knowledge. Excited to share what they were just taught, the girls rushed back to the hotel in order to share the information with their parents.
