What are volcanoes?

Magma

Magma is a hot pasty rock that is inside of the mantle . When the magma escapes from the earth's crust, it forms a volcano.

VOLCANO

A volcano is a mountain like structure that houses magma. It can erupt if there is too much pressure.

ERUPTIONS

When bubbles of gas seperate from liquid, it creates pressure, forcing the liquid out. This is called an eruption . Think of it as shaking a can of soda. When an eruption occurs, lava  comes out of the volcano

LAVA

Lava is the material that erupts from a volcano. It consists of ash, cinders, and hot, molten rock. As this rock cools outside of the volcano, it becomes igneous rock, which is new crust.
