How do volcanoes form?
1. Magma forms deep in the Earth's mantle .
2. Magma pushes up through cracks and weak spots in the Earth's crust.
3. When magma erupts, it is called lava.
4. The laval cools, hardens, and becomes rock.

When lava cools it forms rock. When the rock builds up high enough, it forms a mountain.
