Purpose:

Create a professional development activity that will coach K-16 teachers on a variety of ways to integrate GPS and geography-based technology into their classrooms.

 




Desired Results: 

Teachers understand how GPS  and geography-based technology  (GBT) can contribute to their classroom education and feel capable of implementing/integrating this technology.



Goals:

1.b.Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity: Engage students in exploring real world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources.

 

2.a.Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments: Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.


4.d.Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility: Develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital age communication and collaboration tools.

Here's an idea from other teachers!


A Padlet is an online virtual bulletin board that allows for teachers or students to share ideas. Here is an example of a Padlet used as a thank you. 

 


 

 

Research shows, "The use of technology in development and communication enhanced creativity, brainstorming, and collaboration" (Chin, 2013, p. 14).

On the next page, you will use a Padlet to brainstorm your ideas on how to use GPS or GBT to contribute to your classroom education. As you are working, you will see other teacher's ideas. Our hope is this inspires you to think of even more ideas!
