Willis Haviland Carrier helped to create air-conditioning . Carrier learned about temperature and humidity of air. Temperature is how hot or cold the air is. Humidity is the amount of water in the air. He came up with basic equations for scientists used to understand temperature and humidity are connected.

Willis started a company to make air conditioners. He also learned about people. He found out that people are more comfortable when temperature and humidity is controlled. People were comfortable, refreshed, and enjoyed air conditioned air.

At first, air-conditioners  started out in only a few places like businesses and factories. Today many homes and cars are now air-conditioned.
