The Transition to Pinkerton Academy

Clock Tower at Pinkerton

On the Road to Pinkerton

8th grade is an exciting year with many changes. The biggest change is the move from Chester Academy to Pinkerton Academy. There will be many opportunities to visit Pinkerton this year.

Pink Sheet

In January you will receive your “pink sheet”. This sheet contains recommendations for Math, Science, Social Studies, and English classes for next year from your teachers. You will also get to choose from many exciting electives.

Course Catalogs

With your pink sheet you will also get a Pinkerton Academy course catalog. Ms. Buck will be visiting all of the Social Studies classes to review information in the course catalog. She will also review what choices you have for electives and what classes you must take so that you can graduate.

CTE Catalog

Before your pink sheets are due, we will take a field trip to Pinkerton to have a tour of your elective choices. Most of these choices happen in the CTE program. We will visit many of the classrooms and work areas for woodworking, automotive, culinary arts, accounting, animal science, forestry, and more. There are many fun choices for classes at Pinkerton!

Pinkerton will also host events at night so that you may go with your parents to learn about course options for next year and talk to the teachers and counselors.

Three of the Pinkerton counselors will come to Chester Academy. You will meet with a counselor to review your course choices. This would be a great time to ask any questions you may have about next year.

Budget Sheet for CU4 Reality

This spring we will take a field trip to Pinkerton as part of our Financial Literacy Unit. We will participate in a program called CU4 Reality where you will get to spend more time on the Pinkerton campus.

Pinkerton ID

During the summer, Pinkerton will host a Freshman Field Day. During this day you will get to meet other incoming freshman and spend a few hours involved in group activities with Adventurelore staff, taking tours of the campus, and getting your picture for your school id.

The first day of school is ONLY for freshman. You will get to ride the bus with only freshman, and you will get to meet your teachers and find your classrooms with only other freshman at school. Everyone else will start the next day.

There will be many opportunities this year to learn about and visit the Pinkerton Campus.
