Importance

Having good time management skills is crucial to any students academic learning.  Having good time management leads to increased productivitiy. You need to be able to plan, prioritize, and set goals for yourself to acheive better performance.

Good time management helps you accomplish more work in a shorter period of time.  It lowers your stress and can even help you focus which all sets you up for success.

 Steps

1) Estimate Time

2) Schedule Time

3) Monitor Time

Estimate

You need to think about how much time you will need to complete a given task.  For example if you have homework you may need to estimate how much time you will need to complete each subject (Math,Science,English,Social Studies).

Schedule

You need to take your estimated time and use it to make a schedule or timeline. For example if you know that your math homework is going to take you 30 minutes to complete you need to schedule 30 minutes of math homework into your afterschool time frame.  If you have a weekly assignment that needs to be done you need to prioritize by scheduling to work on different parts of the assignment each night.

Monitor

Create a system such as a to do list to make sure that the task gets completed on time.  For example if you know you have a weekly assignment to complete you can make a "To Do" list of what you are going to complete each night so that you can keep track of your progress by crossing off the list as you complete the items.
