What is Time Management?
Time management is the ability to plan, schedule and monitor your time on a specific task. When you manage your time you are deciding how much time you are dividing your time across multiple tasks.
How Can Time Management Help Me?
Often times students fail to complete homework or hand in poorly done work because they simply ran out of time in the day to complete the work to the best of their ability. Does this sound familiar?
If you effectively manage your time, you will have enough time to do your best work on the assignment. This skill will allow you to be successful with your homework while still enjoying time with friends and family.
Estimate Time
Prior to begining a task think about how long your expect to spend on this activity.
Example: Eating a snack may take about 10 minutes. A research paper may take 2 hours and may need to be spread out over multiple days.
Schedule Time
Use these time estimates to make a schedule or a timeline of which you plan on completing these tasks.
Monitor Schedule
Create a system to ensure that the task is completed. This may be a checklist and a clock to monitor progress and your time on task.
Tools
Homework Planner- A homework planner is a great tool to record the assignment, their due dates and the estimated time needed to complete the task.
Clock- A clock will help you monitor your progress and ensure you are on track.
Checklist- A checklist will help you organize how much you have already completed and those task that still need to be done.
