Introduction

There are many different kinds of weather.  Weather happens everyday, some types of weather are nice, and some types are severe. In this book, you will find out what the different kinds of weather there are, who helps us understand the weather, and instruments used to measure certain types of weather. Let's get started.

Oh what a beautiful sunny day!  There are few clouds in the sky on a sunny day, or none at all.  The sun rays are hot and provide light.

Rain is moisture that falls from the sky in droplets . These droplets can get taken back up into the clouds and freeze, and come down again as hailSevere rainy weather is a thunderstorm. Every thunderstorm contains lightening.

A snowy day is when snowflakes fall from the sky. Each snowflake is a unique snow crystal . But when snowy days turn into severe weather, this is called a blizzard

On a cloudy overcast day, the sky is not as bright as on a sunny day.

On windy days, strong gales or gentle breezes blow the trees, grass, flags, hair, paper, and anything that is light. Severe wind can result in a tornado .

meteorologist is who helps us understand the weather. He or she studies the weather.  They look outside, read instruments, read books, and watch the sky to understand the weather.  Then, they tell us what is happening on the weather news by giving a forecast

There are many different types of instruments to measure the weather. When you want to know how to dress for the day,go look at the thermometer . An adult can help you read the temperature.

If you hear the wind blowing, you can go and look at the anemometer to see how windy it is  outside. If it is spinning, then the wind is strong.  If it is only moving a little, then it is a gentle breeze.

If you want to see how much rain has fallen, go look outside at the rain gauge .  An adult can help you figure out how much rain has fallen.
