Reptiles
Sea turles are reptiles. Reptiles are vertebrates that breathe air, like you and me. Reptiles are covered in scales or boney plates, unlike you and me.
Habitat
Sea Turtles live in oceans all across the world from tropical waters to some of the coldest waters. The species of turtle determines where it will live.
Hatchlings
Every summer, female sea turtles leave the ocean to find a sandy spot on the beach to build a nest. The sea turtle uses her back flipperss to dig a hole in the sand. She lays about 100 eggs in the nest in the sand! Then she returns to the ocean.
The eggs stay in their cozy, warm nest in the sand for about 60 days. After 60 days the eggs hatch! All of the baby sea turtles follow the downhilll slope of the beach to make their way to the ocean.

Diet
The diet of sea turtles depends on each species of sea turtles. Even though what sea turtles eat is different from species to species, all sea turtles have no teeth!
Endangered
Because of changing conditions in the oceans, habitat loss, and hunting of sea turtles by humans, sea turtles are endangered. In fact, there are seven species of sea turtles, nearly all of the species are endangered.
Conservation
Sea turles are TURTLE-ly AWESOME! With our help taking care of the oceans and protecting sea turtles, humans will be able to enjoy them for many generations to come!
