A Day Gone Wrong On A Summer Day

By Amber

When I was a little girl my mom took me, my sister, my cousin, and my whole  family members  to the pool on a hot summer day. The sun was out shining so bright that it looked like it was smiling down from the heavens and the skies. The sun radiated with beauty from its ray of lights and the clouds looked calm.

While People were just letting their minds wonder and feeling free while lying down on the ground and the pool. While the ground and the pool were packed with a whole bunch of people  wearing  bright warm colors on there  clothing looking  peaceful like they were just blesicing with joy  when  just relaxing and letting there worries drift away.

People were sleeping in the pool and on the rough concrete that’s called a ground. It was funny to me just seeing a whole bunch of people old and youge just sleeping man I laughed so much. Creatures and animals so serene just like the wind was flowing through the sparkling calm sky.

When we all arrived at the pool my eyes widened with excitement and all I could think about at that time was ‘’ I can’t wait to jump in the water it looks so cool and I just got done learning how to swim this is going to be great’’. So I back up and got a head start for the pool and then I ran in jumped in the water. When I finally reach the water I realized that I was all the way at the bottom of the pool I was petrified.

While my mom was screaming in terrier and fright, her face looking devastated if anything should happened to me and not knowing what to do in this situation. At the same time  not knowing if I was ok or drowning and I was, I was drowning but still kept a smiling on my face. So I wouldn't worry my mom even more. While I was in the bottom of the water it was the longest five minutes of my whole entire life as a little girl.

This connects to the choice book I picked out called the secret scroll because in the story the main character Catty is enslaved and trapped because she is being followed by followers that want to kidnapped her  just like I was stuck in the water because I couldn’t get out.

I was holding my breathe so long that I felt like I was going to explode, choking and gasping for little air I had left, little tiny bubbles coming from my mouth. When I was trying to catch a breathe but drowning at the same time and me seeing the light like it was just calling my name. The Baca Santiago story, the Rhinna and Christ Brown story, and the movie Lean on me connects. The reason why is because in all these stories all these characters or people were enslaved and imprison in their own mind of thoughts and physically enslaved as well as  being  stuck in  situations that were to difficult to get out of or they couldn't get out of.

When my mom was screaming for one of my family members to come and rescue me no one would get up and try to help me out the pool. Out of nowhere I heard this loud big splash that come from someone jumping into the pool. It was my mom. The characters felt like there was no way to get out of those situations that they were trapped in and that they were going to be stuck in those situations for a while. Also all these characters real or fake had to face opticals among as challenges as well that they had to get over.

Finally I was out of the water feeling fine and started to get back to feeling like my own self again and being able to see daylight all over again.  After a couple of minutes later my whole family and I went home and just forgot about what happened on that day. I felt enslaved instead of feeling free on that day when I was stuck in the water because I was scared, nervous and I felt like I was never going to get out of the water it seriously felt like I was trapped inside the water and my reaction was that I was really scared because I was drowning and I was only a little girl.  In the Santiago story and the Lean on me movie those characters had to face opticals and buries. For example in the movie Lean on me the teachers in the movie had to control all these kids that weren’t listening and misbehaving and   that was hard for them the teachers.

Also in the Santiago Story the character had to face  different opticals and challanges as well like getting the education of reading because he really didn’t know how to read because no one would teach him so he gained the education of reading even though he was in prison. Even though all these stories were different to me they were kind of the same in a way because in these stories the characters were trapped or stuck  in bad situations that were very challanging to handle or just plain stuck in tough situations just like I was stuck in the water as well.
