Use of Technology in Teaching and Distance Learning 



Hybrid and Oline earning 

     Education moves online to remote instruction and blends the virtual classroom with the real classroom. Educators ensure that students take ownership of their own learning and extend the learning through the innovative use of information. Leanring in a hybrid and distance classroom can join the class remotely via Zoom and Google Meet in Google Classroom to screen share the interactive white board. 

Flipped Classrooms

     Remote Learning in class improves participation in the vitural classroom and provides useful resources. A remote learning plan provides best practices for distant learning. Planning for hybrid teaching and learning outside the classroom combines face-to-face and online teaching into one cohesive experience.  




Interactive White Board 

     The growing use of Promethean Board in schools and zoom shakes up the classroom with fresh ideas for engaging your students. The digital white board allows educators to create engaging lesson plans to increase student engagement and participation.  

  • Setting up the Promethean Board
    • Tech support installs the newest and latest interactive displays in the classroom.
  • Connect the USB Cable
    • Connect the USB, HDMI cable, or ActivHub to the input on the ActivBoard and plug the other end to your computer to connect the two device and turn it on. 
  • Basic ActivBoard Functions 
    • The ActivPen is an interactive pen on the whiteboard to engage and connect students with their learning. 
      • Power up the classroom through technology and instruction can provide resources, viable solutions, professional development, services, and ongoing support.
      • The tip or nib of the pen acts like the left side of the mouse button, while the body of the pen act like the left side of the mouse button. 
      • The nib of the pen can touch a color palette below the section of the Main Toolbox to change it to the desired color.
    • ActivBoard activates a Flipchart button to write and draw using the interactive pen, just like a standard whiteboard. 
      • You can adjust the thickness of the pen and select the eraser to hover over the page to correct mistakes 
      • Set the tool to recognize letters and manage the delay time between your handwriting and the converted text. 
    • Make the On/Off button is illuminated green.
  • Connect to Airplay
    • Select HDMI 2 and under settings located the function Screen Mirroring. Select the correct link to sync your device and input the code to connect the Promethean Board to your phone or iPad to the classroom projector. 


Google Classroom

             Google online tools helps student build literacy skills with text and activities that spark creativity and enable unlimited opportunities for learning. The exposure to an online learning platform creates a virtual classroom space and proven to be quite effective is assisting the learner to share their thoughts and reflect on their understanding as they communicate with one another. 

  • GO to Google.com and sign in at the top right hand corner.
    • Google Classroom allows education to create an online classroom to manage an interactive discussion forum and distribute documents and post hyperlinks that their students need.
  • Select the transparent google apps icon and select Google Classroom 
  • Click on the “+” in the top right corner and create your first class. 
    • Educators can post independent work and group projects from within the classroom with set due dates for their students to complete and turn in their assignments to be graded. 
  • Once you create your own classroom, set up the classroom code for your students to start joining. 
    • Stream: The Stream on Google Classroom allows educators to post announcements, ask questions to their students, and send out reminders that they can design visually and have control over. 
    • Students: Students can find the announcements in the Stream and upcoming assignments in the Classwork tab on the top of the screen. 
    • About: Add your course title and description with class details and select settings. 
    • Google Drive icon is located at the bottom right corner of the class title. The folder icon opens the Google Drive to select your classroom materials for your upcoming lessons.

Zoom

            Zoom video conferencing uses a variety of online activities to support teaching and learning scenarios. When teaching with Zoom, educators can use active learning and collaborative tools to make the class more interactive. Using zoom offers a variety of breakup rooms and other means of online activities and strategies to inspire students to do their best work. 

 

  • Go to https://zoom.us or download Zoom in the App Store. 
  • Create an account or sign in using your work email address, Google, or Facebook.
    • Zoom is for work purposes and recommends signing in with your work email address.
  • Zoom will send an you an email with a confirmation link.

  • Start a Zoom Meeting 
  • Add participants by tapping on the “Invite” option at the bottom left of the screen.
    • Hover your cursor over the “Host a Meeting” button at the top-right corner of the screen, and select one of the following options:

                                               i.     With Video On

                                              ii.     With Video Off

                                             iii.     Screen Share Only

  • The website will redirect you to the the Zoom app and start a meeting.
