Writing - Concisely, Tersely and Beautifully

It's common knowledge that any one person can write. However, not everyone can become published. Sometimes, even when an author already has something in print, he may still fail to sustain his audience's interest because his style spells boring. It is necessary then for an aspiring author to know how to write, capture his readers and maintain their attention. But how can you, as the writer-in-the-making, do this? Actually, you can start by adhering to the following tips.

First off, you need to concentrate on your goal. What exactly is the purpose of your work? Is it to inform people about a concept or product? Or is it to entertain them? Whatever it may be, you need to decide on your objective because the direction that your writing would take is basically rooted on this.

Second, think of your readers. Surely you understand the logic behind this. You cannot expect adolescents to read your new book if your topic and style are only appropriate for very young kids. That's like singer-actress Miley Cyrus expecting the grunge world to love her pop-rock album. The two just don't go together.

Third, exercise your robust imagination and start brainstorming. People usually scan articles before reading them thoroughly. If they do not like your ideas, then they will not read your material. Your content also has to be relevant to your readers otherwise they will find it pointless to read your work.

Fourth, clarify your statements and be organized. Your writing has to have organization. You cannot say one thing in one paragraph then contradict yourself in the succeeding parts of your paper and try edit your paper.Aside from confusing your readers, you will also end up losing your credibility as an author. Likewise, you need to be grammatically correct. It doesn't really matter if they are typographical or not, errors are errors and writings that are loaded with them, aren't worth reading.

Fifth, remember to draft and proofread and edit and revise. Drafts are the foundation of your work. Your final masterpiece would always be something that has undergone several figurative face lifts and collagen injections. It's absurd to think that an individual can produce a masterpiece in just one go. Writers proofread their work, no matter how magnificent they already are. Similarly, good writers edit and revise as many times necessary.

Lastly, write as much as you can. In sports, practice makes perfect. The same principle applies to writing. Keep an easy-to-carry pad and pen that you can bring with you wherever and whenever. At times people have light bulb moments when they are doing the most conventional things in the world. As a writer, you should be ready to write down these brilliant ideas when they hit you - whenever, wherever. How are you going to do this without your trusty pen and notepad?

Now that you know the shortcut to writing well, go and get started. The earlier you do, the better is your chance at improving and getting published.
