When My Teacher Was In School

This is a chalkboard .  When I was little my teacher would write on the chalkboard.  Sometimes it would make a weird screeching noise when my teacher used the chalk.  It had black erasers that would get very dusty.  A helper would take the erasers outside and clap them together to get the dust off.

This was called a ditto .  When I was little copy machines were not used in school.  My teacher would take a worksheet and make it into a ditto.  It used purple ink and when the ditto was copied, it had a special smell.

When I was little we had one pencil sharpener.  It was attached on the wall.  In this small machine were holes for different size pencils.  You would put your pencil in one of the holes and move the handle in a circle.  You would also have to empty the pencil sharpener to get rid of the pencil shavings .

Computers were very expensive when I was in school.  We had a few computers that we could use, but it wasn't every day.  We had to go to the computer room to use it.  There was no internet and to do something on the computer you needed a floppy disk.  A floppy disk held the computer program.  Also, there was no color on the screen, everything would be in a brown text.

Sometimes we would get to watch something on t.v.  This was on a cart because all the classrooms had to share the television.  To watch something my teacher would use a VHS tape.

At recess, we would play on the playground or play games.  Some of the games I liked to play were kickball and baseball.  I also loved the big slide we had on the playground.
