Mr. I Goes to Egypt

Written by: Stephanie Serre

There was a history teacher named Mr. I. Mr. I taught at a school in a small rural town. Now Mr. I was no ordinary teacher, he was a teacher every student wished for. When he taught, his lessons came alive. Students were always excited about learning.

Before Mr. I became a teacher, he traveled the world. Wherever Mr. I traveled to he would collect different artifacts or relics to remember his travels.

Mr. I has traveled to all of the seven continents. Mr. I likes the fact that he has been all over the world, because he can share stories about his adventures with his students. Mr. I's students love listening to his stories. Once when they were studying about Egypt Mr. I told them all about the different places he saw.

The Pyramids at Giza, is one of the places that Mr. I saw when he visited Egypt. He took a tour of the Pyramids and learned that they were the tombs of the Pharaoh's. When a Pharaoh died he would become a mummy. They would mummify him. Once he became a mummy they placed him into a tomb. Inside the tomb they placed jewels and other things that the pharaoh would need in the afterlife.

The Great Sphinx, is a statue that is half-man half-lion. The statue was built to guard the tombs of the Pharaoh's. The statue of the Great Sphinx is 241 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 65 feet high.

Mr. I has such an "imagination". Look for Mr. I's next book, Mr. I Goes to China.
