Winter is Finally Here!

Nick and Chad were best friends.  They had a lot in common, the one thing they loved the most was snowmobiling.  They loved winter.

Winter was the most perfect season to them.  They loved the feel of the snow on their bodies and the rush of the speed while riding their snow mobiles.

This winter they signed up for a snowmobile race.  They made a pack that they would both try their hardest and not be jealous of the person who won.  They quickly started practicing.

Nick had a brand new snowmobile so he was already set for the race.  Chad was not yet ready because his snowmobile was old and run down and needed new parts.  He had a lot of work to do.  He asked Nick for help but Nick said he had to practice on his own.

Chad worked hard every day on his snowmobile, while Nick was practicing racing in the snow.

Chad began to think he had no chance for the race and was upset.  His mother explained that he should continue his hard work and that it was important to just have fun.

It was the morning of the race.  The snow coming down was perfect, glistening on the ground.  Chad and Nick saw each other for the first time in a few days.  They were both too focused on the race to talk to one another.

The race began and off they rode into the winter morning.  Nick and Chad were neck and neck until suddenly one of Chad’s wheels came flying off. They were so close to the finish line.  Nick looked back and saw Chad there, who was now behind in the race.

Nick suddenly thought about his best friend and how he asked him for help earlier that week.  He remembered that he ignored his friend. He felt selfish and sad.

Meanwhile, Chad was about to give up until…

Nick quickly turned around and came to the rescue.  He helped Chad fix his wheel.  Chad was so happy to see his best friend right there with him.  They rode past the finish line winning with a tie and riding off into the winter morning.

They rode their snowmobiles until dark.  Then, they made a pack to stick to just fun and no more competitions.
