The Soda Can

By Brittany Holmstrom

Hi! My name is Tommy.  Every day after school, I go for a walk with my mom in the park.  Would you like to join us?

This is our favorite park.  We love to look at trees and how they change during the season.  I don't like when people litter and leave their trash on the ground.  There are bins in the park where you can recycle plastics, paper and aluminum.  Sometimes my mom and I pick up the trash and recycle it.  Lets recycle this soda can.

I wonder what happens to this can after we put it in the bin?

Items, like soda cans, need to be collected first.  After items are collected and picked up, they need to be sorted and cleaned.  Items get sorted from paper, plastic and aluminum.  The items then get manufactured into other items, like a new soda can or magazine.  The last step is people buying the recycled items.

Wow..it is really interesting to see how this soda can can become a new soda can!  I am going to continue to recycle items i find in the park so they can become new items.  You should too!
