How to use this book
To the reader: This explanation of how to use this digital book is in English, but the majority of the rest of it is in Spanish. This book is to be used as a review for what we have previously covered.

Characters: The characters in the book are there to provide help.
1. Maria - Maria is the character known as the reader. She is there on every page to read the text aloud to you.
2. Catalina - Catalina is the character there to prompt you and to ask you to practice what you just learned. She will be asking you the question in Spanish and will only understand a response back in Spanish.
3. Lolita - Lolita is the character who will speak to you in English to give you hints as to how to respond to Catalina's questions. Although she is there to help you in English, remember you have to respond back in Spanish!

¡Hola! Me llamo Maria. Yo tengo catorce años.
Yo tengo una familia pequeña . Tengo un padre, una madre, y un hermano. Tengo un perro también.
Cada persona en mi familia es muy diferente. Mi padre es alto y flaco . Mi madre es baja y tiene pelo negro. Mi hermano es atlético.
A mí me gusta jugar el baloncesto. También me gustan los animales. A mi hermano le gusta el fútbol. A mis padres les gusta viajar. Su lugar favorito es Florida.
La familia es muy importante en mi cultura. Hay mucho cariño entre mi familia y nos gusta compartir con todos. También la televisión es un aspeto muy central a mi familia. Siempre hay una persona en mi casa que está mirando la televisión.
Las fiestas son muy importantes en mi cultura también. En muchas fiestas, hay una piñata. La piñata está llena con dulces y frutas.
Cada persona toma un golpe a la piñata hasta que la piñata rompe. Entonces, la gente come los dulces y las frutas.
Una fiesta muy importante es la quinceañera. La quinceañera es una fiesta grande por el cumpleaños de una chica que tiene quince años. Hay una misa y después una fiesta con la familia y los amigos de la chica. La parte más importante de la fiesta es el baile que ella tiene con su padre.
Mi quinceañera es en octubre.
