Identify Cues

1. organizational cues = “Now we will talk about…”

2. emphasis cues – verbal = “Now listen carefully to this…”

3. emphasis cues – non verbal = stress, volume, pace of speaking

N ote Key Words

1.       write words, not sentences

2.       abbreviate words

3.       no punctuation

4.       don’t erase, draw a line through instead

5.       leave space to add info

6.       use synonyms
