Big...Bad...Puppies?
Nala and Storm search for a friend
Nala and Storm were two very sad, big...bad...puppies.
No matter where Nala or Storm went, people were scared of them.
Nala and Storm are American Pitbull Terriers. People have given Pitbulls a bad reputation by spreading terrible rumors about them. Every time they pass a friendly dog or a nice person they want to meet- they are given mean faces and people call them names.
"Why can't we play with Roover, big sister Nala?" said Storm
Nala replied "People think we are scary because we have big bodies and big teeth"
Storm pouted "But I'm not mean big sister, I just want some friends".
Nala sadly replied "We are different than some dogs, and because we look stronger and bigger than them, they are affraid"
Storm ran away yelping.
People did not always think we were bad dogs. Our famous uncle Sergeant Stubby was a hero. Stubby was the most decorated war dog of World War I. He served with the 102nd Infantry, 26th Division in France for almost 2 years and participated in 17 different battles.
Pit Bulls were once the American dog. Known for their strength and dignity, Pit Bulls served in wars, appeared in magazines and movies, and were the preferred dogs of the American people.
Our other famous Uncle Cesear Milian, teaches people about what good dogs we are, says Nala.

- Helen Keller had a pit bull as a family pet.
- Dakota is a pit bull search and rescue who searched for the remains of the astronauts who lost their lives in explosion of the space shuttle Columbia.
- Popsicle, who received his name after police found him in a freezer during a drug raid, is famous for sniffing out drugs for the DEA.
- A pit bull rescued in South Los Angeles by County Fire Station 14 during 1985 was the station's mascot for years."
And there are a lot of famous people who rescue our kind.
- Jon Stewart of The Daily Show with Jon Stewartowns two pit bulls: Shamsky & Monkey.
- Ken Howard, award-winning actor from Crossing Jordon, was saved by his pit bull Shadow during a medical crisis
- President Theodore Roosevelt, President Woodrow Wilson, Fred Astaire, General George Patton, singer Madonna, movie star Brad Pitt, and actress Kelli Williams are just a few other celebrities who own or have owned a pit bull.
"That's a great story sister" smiled Storm
"It's not a story, it's the truth" exclaimed Nala
The next day, Storm was thinking about the story that her big sister told her, and all she could think about it finding some friends. "It's just not fair...I just want someone else to play with! "
The next day when Nala, Storm and their mom was walking them, they had the opportunity they've been waiting for... a chance to meet a friend!
Approaching was another big...beautiful...puppy, named Kimbo. He was also an American Pitbull terrier with an owner who knew that Pitbull were not the bad dogs the TV made them out to be.
These three dogs became best of friends and played with each other for years to come!
Storm had finally found a friend and lived happily every after.
