The Princess who Lost a Tooth

Written and Illustrated by: Stacie Tripp

It was Cally's first day of 1st grade.  As she walked into the classroom she was amazed with the array  of colors in the room.  She noticed all of the decorations, especially the tooth chart that was hanging up on the bulletin board in the front of the room.

After all the students entered the classroom and hung up their backpacks, Ms. Hershey asked them to sit on the big colorful rug.  She explained  the rules of her classroom and began to describe  each chart that was in the room.  The students learned that they can receive a sticker for each time they behave well, lose a tooth, and do their homework.

Cally couldn't wait to be the first person to receive a sticker on each chart.  As the days went by the charts began to fill up fast.  She received stickers on both the homework and behavior charts but she was one of a few students who still hadn't lost a tooth yet.

Cally didn't understand why all of her classmates were losing teeth and she wasn't, so she attempted to loosen her teeth herself.    When she was at home she ate candy and apples in an attempt to loosen her teeth, yet nothing would happen.

While Cally was in school her friends would tell her stories about the tooth fairy and the presents they had received from her.  Logan told her the tooth fairy gave him ten dollars, Megan got a puzzle and Colton got a new teddy bear.  Cally wondered what the tooth fairy would bring her.  I hope I get something special too, she thought to herself.

Ms. Hershey realized  something was upsetting Cally.  She took Cally aside and spoke with her.  "Cally, what's wrong?", she asked.  "I'm the only one in the class that hasn't lost a tooth and I don't think I ever will!", Cally exclaimed.  Ms. Hershey hugged Cally and replied, "your time will come."

A few weeks later, Cally ran into the classroom with some exciting news that she wanted to share with Ms. Hershey.  "Ms. Hershey, Ms. Hershey", Cally screamed, "I have a loose tooth!"  "That's great", Ms. Hershey replied, "I wonder when it will fall out so that the tooth fairy will come."

It was the Thursday before spring vacation and Cally was eating lunch with her classmates.  She had finished her sandwich and took a bite of her apple.  To her surprise, her tooth was stuck in her apple.  She was overwhelmed  with excitement.  Cally couldn't wait to get back to the classroom and tell Ms. Hershey what had happened during lunch.

When Ms. Hershey heard the news she was so excited for Cally.  She put Cally's tooth in an evelope to make sure she wouldn't lose it.  Ms. Hershey then gave Cally a sticker to put on the tooth chart, Cally was thrilled.  Cally couldn't wait to go home and put her tooth under her pillow that night.

The next morning Cally woke up and picked up her pillow, she couldn't believe her eyes.  Under her pillow there was a pink sparkling princess crown!  She put the crown on and ran downstairs to show her Mother what she got from the tooth fairy.

Later that morning Cally arrived to school wearing her pink sparkling princess crown, she couldn't wait to show Ms. Hershey and her classmates.  She entered the classroom and screamed, "Ms. Hershey look at what the tooth fairy brought me!"  Ms. Hershey was so excited for Cally and her told her that good things come to those who wait!
