Jen and the Very Special PROJECT

Long ago, there lived a girl named Jen.  Jen liked school, but she was very unorganized and had trouble completing her school work.  She often forgot to write down assignments in her planner and she even shoved her worksheets inside her textbooks.  Sadly, Jen was much too shy to ask her teacher for help solving her problem.

Jen’s teacher, Miss Johnson, noticed her unorganized student and decided to help her learn a special way to get her homework completed and turned in on time.  That afternoon, Miss Johnson left a secret note in Jen’s desk that read:

“Complete a special PROJECT in just seven small steps to become more organized and successful with your homework!”

Each afternoon for seven days, Miss Johnson left helpful directions in Jen’s desk to help her complete her special PROJECT.

Step One: Prepare your planner and study sheets today. Complete your weekly study guide and monthly calendar page in your planner.

Step Two:  Record your assignments and ask questions when you need help. Look at the whiteboard for a list of assignments and due dates.  Record these items in your planner and remember to ask me for help if you need it.

Step Three:  Organize the work you need to complete. Look at each assignment and divide it into manageable portions.  Set your study sessions and bring home all of the supplies you will need.

Step Four:  Jump to it right away! Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can accomplish today!

Step Five: Engage in your work. Complete your homework assignment and ask your family for help if you need it.

Step Six:  Check and evaluate your work. Be sure your assignment is done correctly and shows your best effort.

Step Seven:  Turn in your work. Now, your PROJECT is complete!

With Miss Johnson’s help, Jen learned a special way to complete and turn in her homework.  Now, Jen is a teacher and helps her students complete their own special PROJECT to become more organized and successful with homework!
