Shopping for my Brother's Birthday

By: Miss LaCour

My name is Christine, and I am two years older then my brother, Sam.  Sam is four years old.

Tomorrow is Sam's birthday.

My mother wanted to take me to the toy store to pick out a gift for Sam.

My mother took me to my favorite store, Magic Toys.

Once we got inside I saw so many fun toys that I wanted to play with!  I saw dolls, doll houses, and princess costumes

However, once I saw Talking Teresa I knew that I wanted my mom to buy me her.

When I asked my mother if she could buy me Talking Teresa she became angry with me.

"Did you forget why we came to the toy store?" shouted Christine's mom.

I didn't answer, but I then remembered that we weren't shopping for me.

My mother told me that we weren't shopping for me, but for Sam.

"What do you think Sam would like for his birthday?" asked my mother.

I thought about what other toys Sam had.  He has toy trucks, comic books, and action figures.  What toy doesn't Sam have?

I then remembered that Sam mentioned that he always wanted a toy that could fly.

As I was walking around Magic Toys I found a bunch of toys for little boys.  However, I knew that I had to find a toy that would fly.

I found toy cars, trucks, and vans that all looked like fun, but these toys didn't fly.

As I walked down the next aisle  I found toy planes, army jets, and helicopters !  Which would Sam like the most?

Then I found the most perfect toy plane that could actually fly!  It was made of wood and had red trim.  Red is Sam's favorite color!  I just knew we had to buy it for Sam's birthday!

The next day was Sam's 4th birthday.  It was a beautiful day with a little breeze, so we opened presents outside.  This was perfect, because I knew that once Sam opened my gift he would want to fly it.

As Sam ripped off the wrapping paper to his gift I became very excited.  Once the wrapping paper was off, Sam's eyes lit up with happiness.

"Christine! You got me a flying plane!  How did you know that I wanted one?" Sam asked.

"You told me that you wanted a toy that could fly.  Once I saw this plane in your favorite color, red I knew that you would like it!" I told Sam.

"Thank you, Christine! I love it!" Sam said as he threw the plane across the lawn of our backyard. "This is the best birthday gift ever!"

I felt good to know that I picked out a great gift for Sam's birthday.
