Mouth

Your mouth begins the digestive process. When food is entered into your mouth it is broken down by chewing and saliva

Esophagus

After your chewed food leaves your mouth it enters a long tube called the esophagus . The esophagus uses rhythmic movements to push food down to the stomach

Stomach

Food leaves the esophagus and enters the stomach . The stomach is like a large bag that turns food and bathes it in gastric acid.

Small Intestine

Food leaves the stomach and travels into the small intestine . In the small intestine, bile, pancreatic enzymes and other digestive enzymes help break down the food.

Large Intestine

Food travels through the small intestine into the large intestine. It is in the large intestine that water and electrolytes are removed from the food. The remaining food travels through the large intestine and is stored in the rectum until it is excreted
