This book is dedicated to the students at South Salem Elementary School
and their favorite musical fish: Bob!

There are some things you should know about Bob.  Bob loves to sing.
He sings in the shower, he sings while he eats, and even sings while he sleeps!  Whenever he goes out, he’s plugged into his iPod and he always sings along loudly!

Bob had just downloaded a new song and was rockin’ out.
He spotted his friend Adagio , the starfish, and shouted: “Hey!  Do you wanna hear this new song I  just got?”

Just as Bob opened his mouth to sing, Adagio plugged his ears with two of his arms and said:

“Everywhere you go you are plugged into that thing
Everywhere you go all you do is sing sing sing!
You sing around the ocean and you sing around the sea
But please whatever you do, stop singing around me!”

Bob wasn’t fazed ; he just kept on swimming and singing.

He swam by the seahorse twins Piano and Forte who were playing a game of tag.  As soon as they heard Bob they stopped their game and Piano whispered something very softly.
Bob, puzzled, asked: “I couldn’t hear you; what did you say?”

Forte, her brother, shouted:  “SHE SAID:

Everywhere you go you are plugged into that thing
Everywhere you go all you do is sing sing sing!
You sing around the ocean and you sing around the sea
But please whatever you do, stop singing around me!”

“What boring sea horses,” Bob said to himself,
“They just don’t know what good music is when they hear it!”
And he kept on swimming and singing.

He came upon Fermata , the puffer fish, who was practicing to see how long she could stay puffed up for.
“1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, 4….”
When she heard Bobs voice, she spit out all of air and annoyed said:  “Thanks to you, I lost my count!

“Everywhere you go you are plugged into that thing
Everywhere you go all you do is sing sing sing!
You sing around the ocean and you sing around the sea
But please whatever you do, stop singing around me!”

Bob was starting to feel a little sad; none of his friends liked his singing!
Starting to feel discouraged , he began singing the blues .

“Hey Bob, stop one second” shouted Crescendo the conch.

“Let me guess what you are going to say...

“Everywhere you go you are plugged into that thing
Everywhere you go all you do is sing sing sing!
You sing around the ocean and you sing around the sea
But please whatever you do, stop singing around me!”

said Bob mockingly and upset!

“Not at all,” said Crescendo .
“I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to join our band.
I am playing guitar.  Octave the Octopus is going to play keyboard and Ostinato the Turtle is going to rock out on drums.
We were wondering if you would like to be our lead singer.”

Bob happily replied: “Me, a singer in a real band?
Me getting the chance to jam ?! I’d love to!”

And from that day on, Bob rocked out with his new band: The Coral Reef.
They had great success, wrote many hit songs, and sold out many concerts.

And from that day on, no one ever again asked Bob to stop singing his song!
