This butterfly and this frog have something in common.  Do you know what it is?

If you said that the butterfly and frog are both green you are correct!

Along with being green, this butterfly and frog have something else in common.  Can you guess what it is?

The butterfly has a life cycle with 4 stages.

The frog also has four stages of its life cycle.

The first stage of a frog's life cycle is an egg.  Frogs lay between 2 and 10,000 eggs at a time.

The second stage of a frog's life is a tadpole.  A tadpole swims in the water and breathes using gills.

The third stage of a frog's life is a froglet.  A froglet has some of its tail left but now breathes using lungs.

The fourth and final stage of a frog's life is an adult frog.

Remember, the frog's life cycle has four stages. First the egg, second the tadpole, third the froglet and the fourth stage is the adult frog.

Frogs and Butterflies each have four stages of their life cycles.  That's what they have in common.
